PLAN AN EVENT

Who do you want to invite?

Hosting a Constitution Day Reading is fun and easy when you incorporate the resources provided here at Constitution Week. Let us help you navigate our free resources. Schedule a conversation with a volunteer coordinator at support@constitutionweek.live or choose the type of reading below and get started.

Families & Neighborhoods

Families & Neighborhoods

1 / Decide the audience

Readings can take place in individual families or among groups of friends in the neighborhood.  Decide if you'll make this a fun activity for your family, friends, or both!

2 / Plan date, time, & location

Decide where and when your reading will take place.

3 / Assign speaker parts

Use the Constitution speaker script in the resources below.  Assign family members and friends a part or multiple parts to read.

4 / Plan additional activities

Decide what additional fun activities to include at your reading. Use the Activities page as a resource, including downloadable coloring books for younger children to use while listening to the reading.  Decide if you'll need food, drinks, snacks, or desserts at your event.

5 / Host the event

Use the flyers and banners under the Media/Publicity page to send invitations to your event. Hold the live reading and any other activities you have planned.

Schools & Local Organizations

Schools & Local Orgs

1 / Decide the format

Readings can take place in an auditorium with an audience or in individual settings such as in classrooms, as a pre-recorded video, or as a live-stream broadcast available for all to watch together. Decide what will work best for your organization.

2 / Plan date, time, & location

Decide where and when your reading will take place. Reserve any event venues and gather audio and video equipment if needed. Plan additional activities to occupy younger students during the reading, including a downloadable coloring book found on our Activities page.

3 / Assign speaker parts

Use the Constitution speaker script in the Activities tab. Assign students, teachers, and volunteer guests a part to read.

4 / Hold a rehearsal

Invite all your speakers to have a practice run-through reading. Coordinate how to speak clearly into a microphone and how to walk on and off the stage (as applicable).

5 / Host the event

Use the flyers and banners under the Media/Publicity page to advertise for your event. Hold the live reading, or distribute the pre-recorded video to your school and community.

Tell us about your event!
